"Dropper Loop Knot"

Purpose:  The "Dropper Knot" is not used too extensively, but we think it's such a keen one, we thought you should learn to tie it.   It is used to make a "spur" off of your leader (even fly line) to create a connection loop to which can be attached another fly or weight.

Step 1:  Using your favorite of the two try-line sections, form a loop as indicated (with the tag end on top of the running line)

Step 2:  With your right hand, pinch the right side of the loop between your index finger and thumb and pull it down and over the running line . . .

Step 3:  Continue this same wrapping process, making up to 4-5 turns;

Step 4:  To tighten, pull outward on both ends of the line with your hands while holding the loop in your teeth.

Step 5:  Here's what this Dropper Knot try line should look like when you're done;

Previous: Clinch knot / Next: Duncan knot
