National Fishing in Schools Program                                                              

 

Program Description

The National Fishing in Schools Program:

  • Follows the proven “archery in schools” system

  • Conducts a pilot program with a target of 10 schools in each state for the first full school year; reviews results, evaluates and make adjustments; then proceeds with statewide implementation in the 2nd school year and beyond.

  • Provides curriculum, training & equipment tailored to:

    • Middle School - grades 6, 7 & 8

    • High School - grades 9, 10, 11

    • College & University

  • Cooperates with the state fish & wildlife agencies, state education agencies, the outdoor industry and other public and private conservation groups.

  • Secures funding through the Fishing Education Foundation (FEF) to support matching fund grants to schools to acquire the "Fishing in Schools" program for their middle school, high school, college or university.

  • Cooperates with state partners to host an annual competitive “Fishing Fair” for qualifying students, their parents, families, teachers, etc.
