National Fishing in Schools Program
“Fishing in Schools” is a nationwide program that teaches youth how to fish in schools. It is an “in school” program that is taught by PE teachers in Middle Schools (grades 6-8) and High Schools (grades 9-12). There is also a college/university program.
National Fishing in Schools Program (NFSP) is a registered trade name of The Fishing Education Foundation (FEF.) FEF was formed to encourage support from anyone interested in helping our young students learn about the lifetime rewards of fly fishing while instilling in them a respect and understanding for our natural resources. Any contributions made to this nonprofit corporation are tax deductible. All donations go toward getting "Fishing in Schools" installed in our public schools. There are no paid employees of FEF.
A Lifetime Investment
One rather unique benefit of your contribution is that is it is a “lifetime” gift. For example, let’s say you or your company becomes the benefactor of a school by contributing as an "Adopt A School” sponsor. Your $3000 tax-deductible donation to the Fishing Education Foundation supports “Fishing in Schools” for the life of the program in that school. So it’s not just a one-time expenditure; your investment works year after year as each new class of students participates in the program. Hundreds to thousands of youth are benefitted as the program goes on year after year. (We require a 3 year minimum commitment from our participating schools.)
What types of Sponsorships are available for the “Fishing in Schools” Program?
There are several types/levels of sponsorship for those who wish to support the National Fishing in Schools Program. All sponsorship contributions are to the Fishing Education Foundation, a nonprofit corporation, and are tax deductible for the donor. FEF sends a confirmation of your contribution by postal mail, as well as a distinctive gift to say, "Thank You."
