larva: 3 mm / pupa: 5/8" / adult 2.5 mm

A major western species.  Bright green larva & pupa.  Found primarily in stones at the bottom of swift currents where they move freely about seeking food.  Their robust action makes them attractive to trout.  In preparation for pupation, they construct a tiny cocoon of pebbles that look like transparent sleeping bags.  They emerge sporadically from July to October.

Other free-living caddis:
"Little Orange Caddis" / "Dark Grey Caddis" / "Medium Dark Olive Sedge" / "Small Spotted Sedge"
