Warm up with Stage 7 |
always "pick up where you left off" |
Get back to where you were |
3. |
“Strip line” |
This term refers to the actual “fishing” of the fly by the action of the line hand as it retrieves, or “strips”, line in after each cast is made |
Unlike other forms of casting, we do not reel the line & fly in after each cast; retrieval of the line (and hence the fly) is a function of the line hand |
4. |
Strip line to replenish “the pile” |
As the fly line, and fly attached to the end of it, is pulled in by the line hand through the finger of the rod hand, it is left to accumulate in the pile |
Strip in no more line than what you cast/"shot" from your pile; keep in mind you must ALWAYS have at least 3 rod lengths of fly line in front of the rod tip in order to have enough weight to load the rod for the next cast |
5. |
Reload for the next cast |
After stripping line to the point at which there are 3 rod lengths of line remaining in front of the rod, make another cast |
This is flycasting . . .
|
You are now “flycasting”!
