How To Select The Proper Leader

Selecting the proper leader starts with deciding what size fly ( ) you are going to be fishing with.  That's where to begin to determine what leader to use.

To use this chart, it's an easy 3-step process:

1st first decide what size fly you intend to use; (the fly hooks shown here represent the normal range of those used by fly fishers in most freshwater fishing situations in the US & Canada);
