Tackle, including fly rods, reels, lines and leaders, are not covered in this course.  There is a separate course for each of these topics.

Bandana

The Bandana may appear to be merely an "affectation", or piece of stylish clothing apparel; but at The School of FlyFishing, we feel it is truly one of the fly fisher’s most useful items.  (Though not all fly fishers wear them, many find them to be quite functional.)

Use a bandana to:
1.  help ward off insects; (we sometimes douse a bandana with repellent);
2.  help keep cool on a warm day (for real refreshment, dip it in the "crick" and put it around your neck);
3.  help keep warm on a cool day (a lot of heat is lost through our neck and head and a bandana retards that loss);
4.  clean your eye/sunglasses;
5.  in an emergency, use it to . . . (you come up with your own emergency, OK?)

We recommend 100% cotton, which is the prevalent material, in earth tone, “quiet” colors
