"Mosquito"
species: mosquito
 type: dry

sizes: #12 - 22

Many believe the mosquito is one of the trout's favorite morsels.  Mostly larva, but the dry fly works because it suggests a variety of small adult insects.

Fish: trout, panfish

"Olive Matuka"
species: baitfish
 type: streamer

sizes: #4 - 8

This is actually another "style" of fly.  "Matuka" refers to the use of one or more feathers tied on top of the hook shank and wrapped with thread between the fibers.  Another "old style" that produces as a  baitfish imitator.

Fish: trout, panfish, bass, pike

"Orange Grizzly"
species: Tarpon
 type: saltwater

sizes: #4/0 - 1/0

One of the original tarpon fly styles and pattern.  You wouldn't think a 100 pound fish would take bite at something this small, but they sure do.  More important than the fly is the tackle for the job.

Fish: tarpon

"Orange Midge Pupa"
species: midge pupa
 type: nymph

sizes: #18 - 26

This tiny fly can often be the "biggest" pattern in your fly box.  When trout, particularly, begin to feed on midges, they are very selective.  Size, configuration and color then become essential to success.  Have in many colors.

Fish: trout, panfish

"Pale Evening Dun"
species: mayfly dun
 type: dry

sizes: #14 - 22

Naturals often hatch mid-to-late-day, later as water warms.  Sporadic, drawn-out hatches can make trout quite selective as to size and color.  Spinner stage usually at or after dark.

Fish: trout, panfish

"Pale Morning Dun Thorax"
species: adult mayfly
 type: dry

sizes: #14 - 22

A no-hackle, thorax version of the popular "PMD" dry fly.  Particularly in the east where more quiet water is found.  Sits "in" the water like the natural.  Useful on stillwater, too.

Fish: trout, panfish
